An important new work on the Sensations and Family Groups in the Animal Kingdom by our new WISH-member Paul Theriault.

Regarding the plant and the mineral kingdom there has already been important research been done by Jan Scholten and Michal Yakir to start a thorough understanding as well of the vital sensation as of the underlying family structures of these kingdoms.
This has still to be done for the animal kingdom. And it is a large and difficult step for homeopaths as there are far more animals and animal groups on this planet than plants. The animal kingdom is incredibly diverse and mainly unknown in terms of its healing properties. Apart from this their systematics is even more under construction than that of the plants.
Our Canadian colleague Paul Theriault has undertaken this large project and already published his first material as e-books (see below).
Paul Theriault is following an evolutionary approach to understand and structure the kingdom of animals, which is somewhat similar to the ideas that Michal Yakir is following with her plant tables. His eight levels are adopted from the work of Tinus Smits, whom he names as the originator of the idea as to the human development part. The theoretical basis for his approach has also been layed down in an article , where the eight levels of development are described.
His first books deal with the most ancient of animal phyla, the Porifera (sponges), the Ctenophora (comb jellies) and the Cnidarians (corals, sea anemones, jellyfish). Extensive zoological explanations help to understand what the differences of these organisms in nature are. So reading Paul´s material is not only homeopathically fascinating but also teaches a lot of basic biology. This goes especially for Vol.1, where all phyla are layed out with the remedies that are homeopathically available.
Paul really knows a lot about the animals he writes about and he is very concise with all the biological implications. So his approach and table are logical and scientifically sound.
Paul has conducted lots of triturations of new remedy respresentatives of those groups that we don´t know much, or nothing about. The results of those triturations are leading features to verify the hypothesis and to add detailled material to the remedy pictures. And they are part of the books that he is publishing, so we can check the plausibility of his approach.
The part on Ctenophores thus contains a trituration proving of Mnemiopsis macrydi, a hitherto unknown remedy (also available on provings.info).
Such remedies that are already known and proven are given with their basic materia medica and key symptoms, so that the books can well be used to prescribe the remedies and distinguish between them once the idea has come up to look for that family during case analysis.
The level of analysis – as well in the groups as in the individual substances – moves between human themes and sensations as understood in sensation method. Given a main structure that looks at the evolving human consciousness seperating itself from the universal mind, finding its own existance and borders, gaining self controll and individual purpose and in the eighth level remerging with all reality again, Paul Theriault is of course primarily dealing with main human issues. But as he strongly draws on biological observations and primary homeopathic material (provings), the sensations come up quite clearly and much more than in the tables of Scholten or Yakir, where the human level (emotional and mental) is prominent.
For our WISH-project this research work is an important basis for further provings and exploring of sensations. The basic structure has been layed out by Paul, and we should participate in filling the many gaps that the animal kingdom still has homeopathically.
